Winery Kleine Zalze
At the heart of the picturesque Stellenbosch region lies a centuries-old gem - the Kleine Zalze wine estate. Adjacent to the provincial town of Stellenbosch, affectionately known as "Little Europe," Kleine Zalze offers a wide selection of award-winning wines. The vineyards of the Kleine Zalze estate are situated on various slopes and exhibit different soil compositions. A fresh sea breeze blows from the coast just 15 kilometers away, providing a cool climate, optimal growing and ripening conditions, and hence pronounced fruit flavors in the wines. The estate also offers a variety of attractions, including the critically acclaimed gourmet restaurant, stunning hiking and biking trails, the renowned De Zalze golf course, and the luxurious four-star lodge in Cape Dutch style.

Alastair's wine journey began in Stellenbosch after being inspired to switch his studies from horticulture to viticulture. His international experiences in various regions of Spain, New Zealand, the USA, and South Africa have helped him focus on the "important" elements of winemaking, highlighting the terroir and climatic conditions. RJ has been with the Kleine Zalze estate since 2012. His special talent and meticulous attention to detail contribute to Kleine Zalze receiving numerous international awards year after year, including Platter's Wine Guide, Michelangelo International Wine Awards, and Mundus Vini. Henning Retief gained valuable experience on some of the leading farms in the Stellenbosch and Robertson valleys after completing his viticulture studies at Elsenberg. Henning Retief has been with Kleine Zalze since 2006. One of his past highlights was the estate being awarded the Winemaker's Choice Award in 2009 as Producer of the Year. Henning continues to push the boundaries of quality at Kleine Zalze and is always seeking innovative techniques to enhance the quality of Kleine Zalze wines. Looking to the future, the three winemakers aim to continue the legacy while distinguishing themselves positively through new creations from other estates.

The Chenin Blanc Cellar Selection from the Winery Kleine Zalze conjures up wine lovers with aromas of Guave, ripe pineapple and peach a smile on your face. On the palate there is this fruity Small Zalze Chenin Blanc Cellar Selection very elegant with flavors of Pear and citrus fruits.
The long and clear finish is rounded off by a balanced acidity. In addition, this small Zalze Chenin Blanc has an amazing maturity potential.
Grape variety Chenin Blanc
Chenin Blanc is a widely cultivated, ancient white wine grape variety that has been grown in France (in Anjou – Touraine) since the 9th century. The grape variety is very high yielding compared to other white wine grape varieties. This leads to a very high quality of the white wine when reduced on the vine.
In South Africa, Chenin Blanc is the most planted white wine grape variety. The reason for this is primarily its very high diversity. For example, there are "wild-growing" vines (so-called Bush Vines) that are mostly not irrigated. The vines therefore penetrate very deeply into the soil with their roots to access water. These Chenin Blancs therefore have a greater depth and complexity.
However, the grape variety can also be vinified very fresh and fruity in stainless steel tanks, resulting in a very nice summer wine. By aging in oak barrels, you get very complex and full-bodied white wines again. The aromas of Chenin Blanc wines range from peach, apricot, and tropical fruits to honey and melon.

The Chenin Blanc Cellar Selection from the Winery Kleine Zalze fits very well corner and fried fish. Ceviche is an ideal companion for this.
In addition, this fruity wine harmonizes very well with Salat garnished with roasted pine nuts.

Eine günstigere und nicht viel aufwendigere Alternative ist, sich den Wein ins deutsche Grenzgebiet liefern zu lassen und die Verzollung selbst vorzunehmen. Du erhältst dann die deutsche MwSt zurück, hast eine Freimenge von 5 Liter pro Person und zahlst 2 CHF Zoll für jeden weiteren Liter.
Zudem liefern wir frachtkostenfrei ab 120€ innerhalb Deutschlands. Des weiteren musst Du Dich nicht mit dem Paketdienst abstimmen und sicherstellen, dass jemand da ist, sobald die Lieferung eintrifft.
Wenn Du keine Möglichkeit hast, die Ware zu Freunden ins Grenzgebiet liefern zu lassen, dann können wir den Wein in einen UPS Access Point in Grenznähe nahe zu Deinem Wohnort liefern lassen. Du brauchst Dich nicht zu registrieren, es entstehen keine weiteren Kosten und Du musst nur Deine Weine innerhalb eines gewissen Zeitrahmens dort abholen.
Ferner gibt es verschiedene Anbieter von Paketshops, von denen Du Dein Paket gegen eine kleine Gebühr abholen lassen kannst, z.B. Wir schicken auf Anforderung einen Ausfuhrkassenzettel mit, den Du am Zoll abstempeln lassen und an uns zurückschicken kannst. Wir erstatten Dir dann die deutsche MwSt. abzüglich einer Bearbeitungsgebühr von 12,00€ zurück.
Bitte beachte die Öffnungszeiten der Zollämter! Die Zollämter machen meist am Samstag um 13:00 zu und haben am Sonntag geschlossen! Näheres zu Öffungszeiten und Verzollung unter https://www.ezv.admin.ch.
Für die Zollerklärung fährt man an der Grenze lediglich rechts ran. Man fährt dabei zudem bequem an der Zollschlange vorbei und kann mit EC Karte zahlen.

Folgende Länder erheben eine Verbrauchsteuer auf Wein (Stand: Mai 2021): Belgien, Dänemark, Estland, Finnland, Frankreich, Großbritannien, Irland, Lettland, Litauen, Niederlande und Polen. Aufgrund ihrer Beförderung im EU-Binnenmarkt werden Postsendungen aus Ländern der Europäischen Union regelmäßig nicht von der Zollverwaltung behandelt.
