De Grendel’s Rubaiyat 2020 brings the sea breeze of South Africa together with classic Bordeaux structure in the glass. The nose reveals ripe black cherries and delicate cedar, layered with cassis, dark Chocolate and a hint of graphite. Wonderfully deep, cool and elegant.
On the palate, a velvety richness takes over, perfectly balanced by a lively thread of acidity. Fine-grained, assertive tannins carry notes of juicy Blackberry and fine tobacco into a long, powerful finish.
A wine for long evenings and intense conversations, one that truly comes into its own with a little time in the glass. Give it some air in a decanter; it pairs beautifully with braised lamb and fresh rosemary or pink roast beef fillet.
