Klein Constantia
The historic Winery Klein Constantianestled in the breathtaking Constantia Valleyis known for its deep connection to South Africa's winemaking heritage. It is a timeless producer of the legendary natural sweet wine Vin de Constance, which has enchanted palates across all continents for centuries and reflects royal esteem. The winery Klein Constantia continues this tradition to this day.
The vineyards of Klein Constantia are dramatically built into the mountainside and benefit from the unique climate imprint shaped by the influence of False Bay. These conditions give the grapes an exceptional character. This unmistakable terroir produces wines of elegance, structure, and a vivid sense of where they come from, reflecting the winery's commitment to capturing the essence of its origins.
As the leading grape variety, above all Muscat de Frontignan is mentioned, from which the famous Vin de Constance is produced. In addition to this sweet wine, the winery also produces excellent Sauvignon Blanc.
Translation missing: en.Tasting notes
The Red from Klein Constantia presents an intense ruby red colour. The bouquet reveals aromas of cassis, underpinned by subtle herbaceous and floral nuances. On the palate, the wine is refined, rich and balanced, with firm tannins and an elegant structure. Notes of blackberries and cigar box emerge, leading to a long, spicy finish.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec
This cuvée combines dark fruit, spice and supporting structure. Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec complement each other with typical notes of blackcurrant, plum and Blackberry. Malbec often contributes fullness and a rounder texture, while Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot primarily support the tannin structure and freshness. Petit Verdot can also contribute intense colour, floral notes and peppery spice.
In the glass, the cuvée is usually deep red to violet, full-bodied and dense on the palate. Depending on its origin and age, the style ranges from juicy and fruit-driven to spicy and firmly structured; oak ageing can add toasted notes. The grape varieties originate from southwestern France, but are now also widespread in Argentina and California, among other places. This combination does not indicate a specific appellation.
It pairs well with quickly seared or braised meat, hearty vegetable dishes and aged cheese.
