The Weingut Zevenwacht, whose name means “Seven Expectations”, combines rich heritage with modern winemaking on the well-known Stellenbosch Wine Route. It is located in the leading Stellenbosch wine region and offers visitors a variety of delights and insights into the winemaking process.

The terroir is shaped by the unique location. The vineyards benefit from diverse soils and favorable climate conditions, providing ideal conditions for grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa, Chenin Blanc from South Africa and Syrah/Shiraz from South Africa . The Cabernet Sauvignon from Zevenwacht shows itself on the palate as rich and powerful. On the nose, complex aromas of dark fruits unfold.
In the mid-palate, the Cabernet Sauvignon impresses with a full body and distinct depth. Aromas of blackberry and blueberry are complemented by fine wood notes and gentle tannins.
This robust red wine was aged for 14 months in French oak barrels. The finish of this fruit-driven Cabernet Sauvignon is full-bodied and long-lasting.
Cépage
Chenin Blanc est un ancien cépage blanc largement cultivé, présent en France (en Anjou – Touraine) depuis le IXe siècle. Comparé à d'autres cépages blancs, ce cépage est très productif. Cela conduit à une qualité très élevée du vin blanc lorsque les rendements sont réduits à la vigne.
En Afrique du Sud, le Chenin Blanc est le cépage blanc le plus planté. La raison en est principalement la très grande diversité. Par exemple, il existe des vignes à pousse sauvage (les soi-disant "Bush Vines") qui ne sont généralement pas irriguées. Pour cette raison, les vignes plongent leurs racines très profondément dans le sol afin d'atteindre l'eau. Ces Chenin Blancs présentent donc une plus grande profondeur et complexité.
Le cépage peut aussi être vinifié de façon très fraîche et fruitée en cuves inox, donnant un très joli vin d'été. Par le vieillissement en fûts de chêne, on obtient des vins blancs très complexes et corsés. Les arômes des vins de Chenin Blanc vont de la pêche, de l'abricot et des fruits tropicaux au miel et au melon.
