Klein Constantia
The historic Winery Klein Constantia, nestled in the breathtaking Constantia Valley, is renowned for its deep connection to South Africa’s wine heritage. It is the timeless producer of the legendary natural sweet wine Vin de Constance, which has enchanted palates across every continent for centuries and earned royal acclaim. The Winery Klein Constantia continues this tradition to this day.
The vineyards of Klein Constantia are dramatically set into the mountainside and benefit from the unique climatic influence of False Bay. These conditions give the grapes exceptional character. This distinctive terroir produces wines of elegance, structure and a vivid sense of place, reflecting the Winery’s commitment to capturing the essence of its origins.
The flagship grape variety here is Muscat de Frontignan , which is used to craft the celebrated Vin de Constance . Alongside this sweet wine, the Winery also produces excellent Sauvignon Blanc.
From the traditional South African estate Klein Constantia comes Cuvée Anabel 2026, a rosé that combines maritime coolness with elegant lightness. Shaped by the fresh winds of the Cape Peninsula, this wine has a wonderfully invigorating freshness. It expresses the elegance of the cool Constantia Valley with effortless clarity.
From the very first sniff, clear notes of crisp wild strawberries, white peach and pink grapefruit come through. Delicate floral nuances and a hint of freshly cut blood orange emerge in the background, lending the aroma wonderfully juicy vitality.
On the palate, the Cuvée immediately impresses with lively, linear acidity and a fine, almost chalky edge. The texture remains feather-light and transparent, gliding across the tongue with refreshing grip and a salty finish, making you want another sip straight away.
This is your wine for sunny afternoons on the terrace and convivial gatherings outdoors. Cuvée Anabel pairs beautifully with grilled prawns with garlic, delicate salmon carpaccio or a summer watermelon and feta salad with mint.
Drinking window: until 2028

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Cabernet Franc
This cuvée combines dark fruit, spicy freshness and firm structure. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot complement each other with aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and plum: while the former typically contributes colour and firm tannins, Merlot often adds richness and a softer texture. Cabernet Franc often brings herbal, subtly peppery notes and supports the freshness. Acidity and tannins give the blend definition without any one variety necessarily dominating the palate.
The combination is particularly well known from Bordeaux , but is also found in Tuscany and other international wine regions. In the glass, it is usually ruby red to deep dark red. Depending on the climate and ageing, the style ranges from fresh and straightforward to full-bodied and smooth; oak can add further toasted and spicy notes. It pairs well with roast meat, mushroom dishes or aged cheese.
