Kleinood
The South African Winery Kleinood is located in the remote and picturesque Bot River Region, where it has been run with dedication by Gerard de Villiers and his family since its founding in 2000. The Bot River Region is known for its cool breezes from the Atlantic, which create ideal conditions for growing grape varieties inspired by Mediterranean climates. This is reflected in wines of great elegance and freshness. Kleinood is committed to producing wines that reflect the region’s unique terroir and biodiversity.
Vineyard management follows sustainable principles to protect and nurture the natural environment. The winery focuses on producing quality wines that are authentic and expressive. A particular hallmark is its specialisation in the grape variety Shiraz.
The winery is especially known for its Tambourine Mountain Syrah, which captures the essence of the winery and the region. These wines are made thoughtfully and with respect for nature, resulting in distinctive quality that delights both connoisseurs and newcomers.
Translation missing: en.Tasting notes
The nose reveals intense, fragrant aromas of ripe apricot, accompanied by floral notes of orange blossom and a fresh hint of lime zest. On the palate, the wine is aromatic yet balanced, with a delicate combination of freshness and subtle creaminess. The fruit is pronounced without feeling heavy, supported by lively acidity. The finish is smooth, slightly spicy and pleasantly long, with an elegant floral note.

Viognier
Single-varietal Viognier has a distinctive, aromatic character with typical notes of apricot, peach and white flowers, sometimes complemented by ripe pear or subtle spice notes. In the glass, it is usually straw-yellow to golden-yellow. On the palate, the variety combines a often full-bodied, smooth texture with mild to moderate acidity; tannins usually remain in the background. Its balance comes from aromatic intensity, body and preserved freshness.
Its classic home is the northern Rhône, especially Condrieu. Southern France, California and Australia are also important growing regions. Depending on the climate and ageing, the style ranges from fruit-forward and fresh to rich, creamy wines with subtle oak notes. Viognier is often made in a dry style and pairs well with poultry, fish with creamy sauces or mildly spiced vegetable dishes.
