Winery Marisco Vineyards
Marisco Vineyards is a highly awarded, family-run Winery in the heart of Marlborough, New Zealand. It was founded in 2006 by Brent Marris, one of the country's most renowned Winemakers, who has shaped Oyster Bay and Wither Hills with his signature style. The Winery is home to the iconic brand The Ned, named after Brent's childhood memories in the Wither Hills.
With a mix of adventurous spirit, historic family values, and unwavering passion, Brent has not only elevated the style-defining Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc to a new level but also immortalized his family history in the line The Kings' Series. Together with his wife Rosemary and daughters Emma and Georgia, Brent runs the estate with the goal of creating a sustainable legacy for future generations. The heart of the vision is the Leefield Station estate – a historic farm that today sets new standards as a thriving Winery.
Tasting notes
Marisco Vineyards Leefield Station Pinot Noir Rosé is an elegant rosé wine made from selected Pinot Noir grapes, which is vinified with great care at the traditional Winery Marisco Vineyards in New Zealand. It combines freshness and finesse in a modern, easy-drinking style.
On the nose, the Leefield Station Rosé presents a delicate floral aroma, underlined by wild berries and exotic notes of pink guava. On the palate, an elegant interplay of strawberries and rose scent unfolds, supported by a fine-grained, juicy acidity structure that gives the wine a long, focused finish.
Grape Variety
Chenin Blanc is a widely cultivated, old white wine grape variety that has been grown in France (in Anjou – Touraine) since the 9th century. Compared to other white wine grape varieties, this variety is very productive. This leads to a very high quality of the white wine when reduced on the vine.
In South Africa, Chenin Blanc is the most widely grown white wine grape variety. The reason for this is primarily the very high diversity. For example, there are "wild-growing" vines (so-called Bush Vines) that are usually not irrigated. For this reason, the vines penetrate very deep into the ground with their roots to reach water. These Chenin Blancs therefore have a stronger depth and complexity.
The grape variety can also be aged very fresh and fruity in stainless steel tanks, developing into a very nice summer wine. Through the Aged in oak barrels, one obtains very complex and full-bodied white wines. The aromas of Chenin Blanc wines range from peach, apricot, and tropical fruits to honey and melon.
