Cuvée wine
Cuvées are among the most expensive wines in the world. Bordeaux wines from France and premium wines from the Rioja wine region in Spain are also cuvées. In addition, the world's finest Champagnes are usually Champagne cuvées, made from the grape varieties Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.
But what exactly is a cuvée?
Basically, cuvée means blending a wine from different grape varieties in a fermentation vessel. Blending grapes from different vineyard sites also results in a wine being called a cuvée. There are generally two different stages at which grapes from different sites and varieties can be blended.
